Nigeria's Super Falcons demonstrated their dominance on the continental stage with a convincing 2-0 victory over the Cameroonian Lionesses in an international friendly match held at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta on Tuesday.

Captain Rasheedat Ajibade opened the scoring in the 19th minute, converting from the penalty spot after being brought down by a Cameroonian defender in the box. The Nigerian skipper displayed remarkable composure as she slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to give the Super Falcons an early advantage.

Ajibade wasn't done yet, as she completed her brace just before halftime. In the 43rd minute, she capitalized on a beautiful assist from the left flank by Babajide Omorinsola, finishing with precision to double Nigeria's lead.

Solid Defense Secures Clean Sheet

The Cameroonians mounted pressure in the second half, seeking to reduce the deficit, but their efforts were consistently thwarted by Nigeria's resilient defense. The central defensive partnership of Payne Antoinette and Isah Sikiratu proved impenetrable, ensuring the Super Falcons maintained their clean sheet until the final whistle.

This victory serves as valuable preparation for the Super Falcons ahead of their upcoming competitive fixtures, including the 2024 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) where they will be aiming to secure their 10th continental title.

The friendly match also provided an opportunity for both teams to test their tactical setups and player combinations in a competitive environment, with Cameroon's coach Bawou previously expressing readiness to challenge the Nigerian side.

Nigeria's convincing performance will boost confidence within the squad as they continue their preparations for future international competitions, reinforcing their status as one of Africa's premier women's football teams.
