The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has released the results of the Batch 'A' Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) conducted from May 15 to 17, 2025, with Lagos State emerging as the top performer with an 80% pass rate.
TRCN Registrar Ronke Soyombo announced that out of 13,782 registered candidates, 12,874 (93.4%) participated in the examination while 908 (6.6%) were absent. The overall results showed 8,705 candidates (67.62%) passed, while 4,169 (32.38%) failed.
"Lagos State emerged as the leading state with an impressive pass rate of 80.0%, followed by Edo State at 73.3% and Niger State at 69.2%, while the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) ranked fourth at 68.3%," Soyombo stated.
Digital Literacy Challenges
The examination faced some challenges, particularly low digital skills among some teachers, which negatively impacted their performance. In response, the TRCN is planning to implement digital literacy training programs for teachers, alongside providing a curriculum guide and past questions online to better prepare future candidates.
"All candidates who participated in the examination can check the status of their results online at www.fron.gov.ng or www.trcnigeria.ng or visit any of our TRCN State or Liaison Office. Successful candidates can proceed with processing their certificates and licenses," Soyombo explained.
The registrar emphasized that examination results are valid for certification for one year from the date of publication and encouraged unsuccessful candidates to improve their ICT and pedagogical skills before registering for the November batch.
The TRCN reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the professional growth and development of educators across Nigeria, with these examinations serving as a key component in maintaining teaching standards nationwide.
