President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday received Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, at his Lagos residence for a private meeting. The governor was accompanied by his elder brother, Chief Adedeji Adeleke, and his nephew, internationally acclaimed Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido.
The high-profile visit was disclosed by Dada Olusegun, the President's Special Assistant on Social Media, who shared details of the meeting on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday.
"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu receives in audience H.E. Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun State, along with Chief Adedeji Adeleke and his son, Afrobeats icon Davido, at his Lagos residence," Olusegun stated in his post.
While images from the closed-door meeting have circulated on social media, the specific purpose of the courtesy call remains undisclosed. Neither the Presidency nor the Adeleke family has issued an official statement regarding the nature of discussions that took place during the meeting.
This meeting comes at a time when political engagements are intensifying across Nigeria, though it remains unclear whether the visit was for political purposes or a personal courtesy call. The presence of Chief Adedeji Adeleke, a prominent businessman, and Davido, one of Africa's most successful music artists, has sparked public interest in the nature of the discussions.
Governor Adeleke, who was elected on the platform of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has been governing Osun State since November 2022, while President Tinubu, a former Lagos State Governor, was elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2023.
