The Osun State Police Command has arrested two brothers, Ajala Idowu, 40, and Ajala Maruf, 56, for allegedly stealing two motorcycles in Ikirun, Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest was announced in a statement issued on Thursday by the Command's Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Ojelabi, on behalf of the State Commissioner of Police, Mohammed Umar Abba.

According to the statement, the arrests followed complaints from residents of the Maboreje area of Ikirun about stolen motorcycles. The first complaint was lodged on December 23, 2023, regarding a stolen blue TVS lady motorcycle with registration number KNR 759 UM, while the second complaint came on March 24, 2024, concerning another TVS motorcycle with registration number FNN 898 QE.

"Upon a tip-off and intelligence-led operation, detectives attached to the CP's Monitoring Unit arrested one Ajala Idowu, 40, and his elder brother, Ajala Maruf, 56, with one of the stolen motorcycles on May 8, 2025," the statement read.

During interrogation, the brothers claimed they purchased the motorcycle through Facebook using Ajala Idowu's account. Further investigation by the police led to the arrest of a third suspect, 28-year-old Ibrahim Idris, a motorcycle mechanic from Ibadan, Oyo State.

The police spokesperson confirmed that the investigation has been concluded and all three suspects have been charged to court.

This arrest comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Osun State Police Command to combat property theft and ensure the safety of residents across the state.
