Cristiano Ronaldo has strongly hinted at his departure from Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr after posting a cryptic message on social media following the club's final match of the season.
The 40-year-old Portuguese forward wrote "This chapter is over" alongside a picture of himself in an Al-Nassr shirt, fueling speculation about his next move in what has been a legendary career.
Ronaldo's apparent farewell came after Al-Nassr's disappointing 3-2 defeat to Al-Fateh on Monday night, a result that left the team in third place in the Saudi Pro League table and cost them qualification for next season's AFC Champions League.
Despite the team's setback, Ronaldo enjoyed personal success, scoring in his final game and securing the Saudi Pro League's Golden Boot award for the second consecutive season.
Potential Destinations
According to odds from Betfair, several clubs are in contention to secure Ronaldo's signature. Major League Soccer (MLS) teams and his boyhood club Sporting CP are joint favorites at 3/1 odds.
Saudi rivals Al-Hilal are also in the running at 4/1, while Turkish giants Galatasaray are listed at 17/2. Italian side Napoli (14/1) and a sensational return to Manchester United (25/1) appear less likely but remain possibilities.
A move to Sporting CP would represent a romantic return to where Ronaldo began his professional career before his first transfer to Manchester United in 2003.
Ronaldo joined Al-Nassr in December 2022 following his controversial exit from Manchester United. His time in Saudi Arabia has been individually successful, though the team has failed to win the league title during his tenure.
The five-time Ballon d'Or winner has maintained impressive form despite his age, demonstrating that he still has much to offer at the highest levels of the game.
With the summer transfer window approaching, football fans worldwide will be watching closely to see where the Portuguese superstar chooses to continue his illustrious career.
