A female officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Kate Jonathan Akpabio, has been abducted by gunmen in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

According to security reports, the incident occurred on Monday, May 26, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m. when armed assailants invaded her residence in the Rantya community and forcibly took her to an unknown location.

Security analyst Zagazola Makama first reported the abduction on Tuesday through his X (formerly Twitter) handle, revealing that security forces were alerted shortly after the incident.

Sources close to the situation disclosed that military troops and other security agencies responded to a distress call and were mobilized to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, the kidnappers had already escaped with the victim.

"A joint search-and-rescue operation has been launched by military and police operatives to secure the release of the abducted FRSC officer," a security source stated.

This incident comes amid growing concerns about insecurity in Plateau State, with several kidnapping cases reported in recent months. Just recently, three members of the Deeper Life Bible Church were reportedly kidnapped after a bible study session in Ondo State, highlighting the widespread nature of such security challenges across Nigeria.

As of the time of this report, neither the FRSC nor the Plateau State Police Command has issued an official statement regarding the abduction. The victim's family has also not been reported to have been contacted by the kidnappers for ransom.

Security experts have continued to call for improved intelligence gathering and community policing to address the rising cases of kidnapping and other security challenges in the country.
