Former Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky was hospitalized after experiencing heart-related issues last Tuesday, according to a statement released by Sparta Prague on Monday.
Rosicky, 44, who currently serves as the sporting director of Sparta Prague, was rushed to intensive care for further assessment following the health scare. The club confirmed that after evaluation, doctors determined that surgery was not required.
"Our sporting director, Tomas Rosicky, was unexpectedly hospitalized in the intensive care unit last Tuesday due to heart-related issues," Sparta Prague's statement partly read. "Fortunately, no surgery was required. Tomas, you have our full support. We're all thinking of you."
The Czech club has called on fans to show their support for the former Czech Republic international during his recovery period. In a positive development, Sparta Prague confirmed that Rosicky has been discharged and is now recuperating at home.
Rosicky enjoyed a distinguished playing career, spending a decade at Arsenal from 2006 to 2016 after joining from Borussia Dortmund. Known for his technical ability and vision, he was a fan favorite at the Emirates Stadium despite struggling with injuries throughout his time with the Gunners.
After leaving Arsenal, Rosicky returned to his boyhood club Sparta Prague, where he finished his playing career before transitioning into his current role as sporting director.
