Nigerian international defender Zaidu Sanusi is reportedly set to part ways with Portuguese giants FC Porto during the upcoming summer transfer window, according to Portuguese news outlet A Bola.
The club is now willing to entertain offers for the 27-year-old left-back, whose 2024/25 season was severely hampered by injury problems.
Sanusi suffered a significant setback in February 2024 when he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury that required surgery. Though he successfully underwent the procedure in Portugal, his recovery process was lengthy, allowing him to return to action only in the latter half of the current campaign.
The Nigerian defender's limited playing time has been a concern, with just two appearances for FC Porto throughout the entire 2024/25 season. This restricted involvement appears to have influenced the club's decision to consider transfer options.
Despite his injury challenges, Sanusi reportedly has attracted interest from various clubs both within Portugal and across Europe, suggesting his market value remains considerable despite the recent setbacks.
Sanusi joined FC Porto in 2020 from fellow Portuguese club Santa Clara and has been part of the Dragons' setup for nearly five years. During his time at Porto, he has represented the club in domestic competitions and the UEFA Champions League, including notable matches against Arsenal and other European giants.
As the summer transfer window approaches, the Nigerian international will be looking to secure his future, potentially seeking a club where he can regain regular playing time after his injury-affected season.
