The Nigerian Army has recorded another significant victory against insurgency as troops neutralized 21 terrorists in Katsina State on Friday, May 23, 2025.
According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army Headquarters on its official social media platforms, the successful operation was carried out by troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Fasan Yama in Ruwan Godiya, Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The Army reported that the troops engaged the terrorists in a fierce firefight, forcing them to abandon their base and flee. "During the ensuing pursuit, 21 terrorists were neutralized, with some succumbing to drowning in a nearby river," the statement revealed.
The operation also yielded substantial results in terms of recovered items. The troops seized a large cache of arms and ammunition, including guns, rifles, magazines, and explosives. Additionally, communication devices, mobile phones, and motorcycles were recovered from the terrorists' abandoned base.
This victory comes amid intensified efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat insurgency in the northern region of the country. The successful operation in Katsina adds to a series of recent wins against terrorist groups that have been causing havoc in various parts of Northern Nigeria.
Military operations against terrorist groups have been ramped up in recent months, with security forces recording significant progress in the fight against insurgency, banditry, and other forms of criminality across the country.
