American singer Miley Cyrus has revealed that she almost quit her music career after suffering a traumatic health emergency while performing on stage.

The 32-year-old 'Angels Like You' hitmaker disclosed in a candid interview with Apple Music's Zane Lowe that she ruptured an ovarian cyst during her New Year's Eve performance in 2023.

Following the painful incident, Cyrus seriously contemplated walking away from music altogether. However, she was discouraged from making this decision by Canadian film producer Lorne Michaels, who offered her valuable advice during this challenging period.

"He said to me, 'Six months. Everybody has six months to feel sorry for themselves and then we start to rebuild'," Cyrus recalled during the interview.

According to the singer, Michaels further reassured her by sharing his experiences with other artists who had faced similar crises. "He's like, 'you have no idea how many artists have sat in this chair and told me they were quitting music. Everyone does this, everyone has these traumatic experiences,'" she added.

The health scare marks one of several challenges the former Disney star has faced throughout her career in the entertainment industry, which began when she was a child actress on the hit show Hannah Montana.

Despite the setback, Cyrus has continued her music career and remains one of the most recognizable pop stars globally, known for hits like "Wrecking Ball," "Party in the USA," and her more recent Grammy-winning track "Flowers."
