The 2023 governorship candidate of Action Alliance (AA) in Kaduna State, Mr. Timothy Sherman Adamu, has officially defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), according to a formal announcement made on May 22, 2025.

In his resignation letter dated May 6, 2025, Adamu explained that his decision to leave the Action Alliance was influenced by what he described as the "practical inclusiveness in governance" demonstrated by President Bola Tinubu's administration and Governor Uba Sani's leadership in Kaduna State.

"My decision to quit the Action Alliance party is borne by the APC government of President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani's practical inclusiveness in governance and the transformation witnessed in my dear state and zone in terms of infrastructure, improved security and human capital development," Adamu stated.

The former gubernatorial candidate highlighted that Governor Sani has fulfilled promises made when Adamu, along with four other gubernatorial candidates, congratulated him on his electoral victory in 2023. He emphasized that he could no longer remain politically neutral given the positive developments in the state.

"Governor Uba Sani has really kept his promises made when he led four other gubernatorial candidates of other political parties to congratulate him on his victory at the polls in 2023," he said. "I have no other reason sitting on the fence and not joining the great party, APC, in order to also lend my support to building a better and prosperous Kaduna State and Nigeria."

In his parting message to his former party, Adamu expressed gratitude to the management and staff of Action Alliance for their support throughout his political journey with the party, particularly for the opportunity to represent them as their gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 general elections.

This defection adds to the growing list of political realignments in Nigeria as parties begin positioning themselves ahead of future electoral contests.
