Barcelona sporting director Deco has confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) made a staggering €250 million offer for teenage sensation Lamine Yamal last season, following the youngster's impressive performances that helped Spain win the European Championship.
Speaking to RAC1, the former Barcelona and Chelsea midfielder verified long-standing rumors about PSG's interest in the 17-year-old prodigy, stating: "Yes, last season, not this one yet, but what we want is for him to stay. We don't want to listen to offers, PSG asked, but Real Madrid didn't."
Deco emphasized that Barcelona has rejected all approaches for Yamal and remains determined not to sell the player at any price, highlighting his importance to the club's future plans.
The revelation comes after an exceptional season for Yamal, who has been instrumental in Barcelona's domestic success, helping the Catalan giants secure a treble of LaLiga, Copa del Rey, and the Supercopa de España under manager Hansi Flick.
At just 17 years old, Yamal has established himself as one of football's most exciting prospects, drawing comparisons to Barcelona legends of the past. His performances for both club and country have attracted attention from Europe's elite clubs, with PSG's interest now officially confirmed.
Barcelona's stance on retaining Yamal reflects their commitment to building around young talent, especially homegrown players from their famed La Masia academy. There have even been reports that the club is considering awarding Yamal the iconic number 10 shirt previously worn by Lionel Messi.
The €250 million offer would have made Yamal the most expensive transfer in football history, significantly surpassing the current record of €222 million that PSG paid Barcelona for Neymar in 2017.
