Armed robbers invaded Efab Global Estate in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, in the early hours of Wednesday, May 21, 2025, making away with laptops, mobile phones, and forcing a victim to make a bank transfer.
According to reports, the assailants gained entry into the estate at approximately 4:05 AM by breaching the rear perimeter fence. During the operation, they subdued three security personnel, tying up two and inflicting injuries on the third.
Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert focused on the Lake Chad region, disclosed the incident via a post on X (formerly Twitter). Makama revealed that the robbers compelled one of their victims to transfer funds to a bank account before fleeing with electronic devices.
"Police sources informed me that the incident occurred around 0405 hours, prompting a distress call to the Divisional Police Officer at Life Camp Division," Makama stated. The security expert further noted that while police patrol teams responded swiftly to the distress call, the perpetrators had already escaped before their arrival.
The injured security guard was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) for treatment following the attack. Authorities have since reinforced security measures around the estate to prevent further incidents.
This incident comes amid growing concerns about security in various parts of the Federal Capital Territory. Residents of gated communities in Abuja have been advised to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies promptly.
The FCT Police Command has yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident or any leads on the perpetrators. Investigations are presumably ongoing to track down the suspects and recover the stolen items.
