The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has promoted an officer serving in Adamawa State for his exceptional act of honesty after returning a significant sum of money misplaced by a pilgrim.

Abubakar Abdukadir Moyos demonstrated remarkable integrity on Friday, May 16, 2025, when he found and returned a bag containing foreign currency worth approximately N850,000, according to Adamawa State NSCDC Commander, Idris Bande, who made the announcement on Wednesday.

The bag belonged to Maumuna Salihu, an intending Muslim pilgrim from Taraba State who was at the Yola International Airport awaiting airlift for the 2025 Hajj. The recovered funds included 500 US dollars and 300 Saudi Riyal.

During a ceremony held in Yola to honor Moyos, Commander Bande emphasized that the officer's actions reflect positively on the NSCDC as an institution and serve as an example for all Nigerians.

"Moyos' integrity uplifts the NSCDC as an institution and reminds all Nigerians the kind of people they should strive to be," Bande stated during the ceremony.

The commander expressed gratitude to NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, for recognizing and rewarding honesty within the ranks. As a result of his commendable action, Moyos has been promoted from Corps Assistant II to Corps Assistant I with immediate effect.

This promotion serves as both recognition of Moyos' personal integrity and reinforcement of the NSCDC's commitment to upholding ethical standards among its personnel.
