The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has announced the deployment of 2,900 personnel across the state to ensure security during the upcoming Eid-el-Kabir festival.

Commandant Umar Mohammed made this disclosure in a statement released in Ilorin on Wednesday through the command's spokesman, Ayoola Micheal Shola.

According to the statement, the officers and men will be strategically positioned throughout all 16 Local Government Areas of the state. This comprehensive deployment aims to provide full security coverage at critical infrastructure, prayer grounds, recreational centers, and other locations expected to see high traffic during the celebrations.

Strategic Security Measures

"All Area Commanders, Divisional Officers and Tactical Units have been directed to remain on high alert and sustain proactive engagements with communities," the commandant stated.

He further emphasized that the NSCDC's presence during the festival will be "visible, coordinated, and reassuring," noting that the command has "assessed the risk areas, identified critical points, and implemented a multi-layered approach to ensure a safe and peaceful celebration."

Commandant Mohammed issued a stern warning to individuals or groups who might attempt to exploit the festive atmosphere to cause trouble, vandalize infrastructure, or engage in unlawful activities. He stressed that such actions would face "swift and decisive consequences in line with the law."

Public Cooperation Encouraged

While extending his congratulations to Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir, the commandant encouraged the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting any suspicious movements or activities.

This security measure comes as part of broader efforts to ensure that residents of Kwara State can celebrate the important Islamic festival in a peaceful and secure environment.
