At least 20 people, including children, have been killed in renewed Israeli airstrikes across the Gaza Strip since early Wednesday morning, according to the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
The attacks reportedly targeted multiple areas including Jabalia and Deir al-Balah, as well as regions near Khan Younis in the southern part of the territory. This information, however, has not been independently verified, as the Israeli military has yet to release an official statement regarding these operations.
This latest wave of violence comes amid Israel's major new military offensive launched late last week, which has resulted in dozens of reported casualties daily from the coastal area. Israeli ground troops have now also been deployed in the region, escalating the conflict further.
Israel's actions in Gaza have faced mounting international criticism, including from its closest allies. On Tuesday, the United Kingdom took significant diplomatic measures by suspending trade talks with Israel, imposing sanctions on some West Bank settlers, and summoning Israel's ambassador to the UK for discussions.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate as the conflict intensifies. Previous reports indicated that Israeli airstrikes had killed 33 people in Gaza in a single incident, with over half of the victims reportedly being children, according to Gaza's Civil Defence authorities.
The ongoing conflict has raised serious concerns about civilian casualties and the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region, with Gaza authorities previously reporting as many as 100 deaths in a single day during recent Israeli offensives.
As international pressure mounts, the situation remains volatile with continued military operations threatening more civilian lives in the densely populated Gaza Strip.
