The Department of State Services (DSS) has officially debunked reports circulating that the agency is currently conducting a recruitment exercise, urging Nigerians to disregard such claims.

In a statement posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) account on Wednesday, the security agency categorically described the recruitment reports as false and misleading.

"The public is advised to ignore any misleading or false information about the service's recruitment process. Disregard such claims, please," the DSS stated in its official communication.

The false reports had claimed that the DSS was accepting applications for various positions including electricians, plumbers, mechanics, and carpenters. These fabricated notices further alleged that the recruitment was specifically targeting primary and secondary school certificate holders.

This clarification comes amid increasing incidents of recruitment scams targeting job seekers in Nigeria, where fraudsters often impersonate government agencies to extort money from unsuspecting applicants.

Security experts advise that Nigerians should always verify recruitment information through official channels, including the official websites and verified social media accounts of government agencies, before responding to such announcements.

The DSS, Nigeria's domestic intelligence agency, typically announces official recruitment exercises through established government channels and does not solicit application fees from prospective candidates.
