American R&B singer Chris Brown has been released on bail in a UK assault case after a judge ordered him to pay a £5 million guarantee, according to a ruling at Southwark Crown Court in London on Wednesday.

The 36-year-old Grammy-winning artist, who was not present at the bail hearing, has been permitted to continue his scheduled international tour set to begin on June 8 in Amsterdam. Judge Tony Baumgartner specified that if Brown fails to return to the UK for his concerts scheduled from June 15, the £5 million bail amount will be forfeited.

Brown was charged last week with "grievous bodily harm with intent" following an alleged incident at a nightclub in London's Hanover Square on February 19, 2023. According to court documents, the victim, identified as Abraham Diah, was allegedly struck multiple times with a bottle before being pursued, punched, and kicked.

Police detained the singer in the early hours of May 13 at a five-star hotel in Manchester after he reportedly arrived in the UK via private jet. His co-defendant, US national Omololu Akinlolu, faces the same charges.

As part of his bail conditions, Brown must surrender his passport when not traveling, reside at a specific address known to the court, and is prohibited from visiting the nightclub where the alleged assault occurred or contacting the alleged victim.

Both Brown and Akinlolu are scheduled to appear again at Southwark Crown Court on June 20. The singer's 2025 tour includes performances across Europe, including France, as well as dates in the United States.
