The Osun State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has successfully recovered a Toyota Matrix car and six television sets following a robbery incident at a hotel in Ode-Omu, Osun State.

According to a statement released on Tuesday by Amotekun Spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu, the items were stolen during an armed robbery attack that occurred on May 17, 2025. The operation to recover the stolen items led Amotekun operatives to Ogere in Ogun State, where they engaged the suspects in a gun battle.

The robbery took place at a hotel in Ode-Omu, Ayedaade Local Government Area of Osun State, where the armed men targeted guests who had traveled from Lagos to attend a funeral ceremony. During the attack, the robbers made away with a Toyota Matrix vehicle valued at N7 million and six LG 42-inch televisions worth over N3 million.

"The recovery operation, which took place in Ogere, Ogun State, was carried out after a gun duel between the robbers and Amotekun operatives, with the support of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogere Command," Idowu stated.

Following the report of the robbery at the Amotekun Corps Command in Ayedaade, operatives quickly mobilized in collaboration with the state command to pursue the suspects. During the chase, the robbers engaged the security personnel in what was described as a "serious gun battle."

Faced with superior firepower from the Amotekun operatives, the robbers fled to Ogere in Ogun State, where they abandoned the stolen vehicle and escaped into nearby bushes. The spokesperson confirmed that some of the suspects sustained gunshot wounds during the exchange.

Mr. Adekunle Omoyele, the Osun Corps Commander, commended his operatives for their bravery and acknowledged the crucial support provided by the FRSC Ogere Command in achieving this success.

On Monday, the recovered items were formally handed over to their rightful owners by the Corps' Operations Commander, Olagunju Joseph, at the Amotekun State Headquarters in Osogbo, Osun State.

This operation highlights the growing effectiveness of regional security outfits in combating crime across state boundaries in Nigeria, with the Amotekun Corps demonstrating inter-state coordination in their pursuit of criminal elements.
