The Kano State Police Command has cracked down on three armed robbery syndicates, arresting six suspects in connection with separate robbery incidents across the state, according to a statement released by police spokesman SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa.
In the first incident, which occurred on May 10, 2025, authorities apprehended Saidu Abubakar from Dan-saidu Quarters, Naibawa, Kano. The suspect was arrested in Plateau State while in possession of a stolen Toyota Corolla 2016 model. The vehicle belonged to Nura Abdullahi of Naibawa Quarters, Kano, and was robbed on May 2, 2025. During interrogation, Abubakar confessed to being part of a syndicate specializing in vehicle theft.
The second operation led to the arrest of three armed robbery suspects who had attacked a household with cutlasses and knives. The gang made away with a black Yaris motor vehicle, three computer laptops, an iPhone 11, and cash amounting to N102,000, along with other valuable items.
In the third incident on May 16, 2025, police detectives arrested a suspected vehicle thief who was attempting to sell a stolen Howo concrete mixer in Kano.
According to the police statement, four vehicles have been recovered so far, while investigations continue. The suspects will be charged to court upon completion of investigations.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism and dedication to duty. He assured the public that the Command remains committed to ensuring the safety and security of lives and property in Kano State.
