Four Nasarawa Amazons players have secured spots in the prestigious Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Team of the Season, highlighting the club's dominance in women's football in Nigeria.
The standout players from Nasarawa Amazons include Janet Akekeromowei, Joy Igbokwe, Matthias Josephine, and Jumoke Alani. Akekeromowei and Alani further distinguished themselves by winning individual accolades at the Super Six playoff tournament, with Akekeromowei named Most Valuable Player and Alani recognized as the best defender of the competition.
Remo Stars Ladies also made a significant impact on the Team of the Season with three players making the cut: Bolaji Olamide, Ibrahim Hannah, and goalkeeper Charlotte Adjei, who was named the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
Bayelsa Queens, who were crowned champions for the sixth time, contributed two players to the elite selection: Mariam Aderemi and Blessing Abiola. The team's success was further recognized as their coach, Whyte Ogbonda, was named the best coach of the season.
Rounding out the Team of the Season are Rivers Angels forward Mary Moses and Edo Queens midfielder Kafayat Mofisere, both delivering exceptional performances throughout the campaign.
The 2025 NWFL season concluded with Bayelsa Queens claiming the championship title at the Super Six playoff tournament, which featured a prize pool of ₦24.5 million, reflecting growing investment in women's football in Nigeria.
