The Abia State Government is mourning the loss of Mr. Ugochukwu Kingston Elefue, the Permanent Secretary of the Government House, Umuahia, who passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025.

Caleb Ajagba, Chief of Staff to Governor Alex Otti, has extended condolences to the bereaved family during a visit to the deceased's country home at Amawom Oboro in Ikwuano Local Government Area of Abia State.

During the condolence visit, Ajagba, who was represented by Nwomiko Udo-Nwokocha, the Director of Administration at Government House, described the late Permanent Secretary as "an unassuming personality" and "a kind-hearted man" who had worked effectively with the administration during his brief tenure.

"He worked well with us for the few months he stayed in the Government House as Permanent Secretary," Udo-Nwokocha stated, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Staff. He encouraged the family "not to mourn like those without hope" and assured them of government support during this difficult period.

Mrs. Benadeth Oluchi Ubani, Chairman of the Staff Welfare Association at Government House, also paid tribute to Elefue, describing him as "a very good man and an accommodating boss." She expressed regret over his sudden passing.

Responding on behalf of the Elefue family, the deceased's younger brother, Mr. Ifeanyi Elefue, thanked the Chief of Staff and the entire management and staff of Government House for their solidarity during the family's time of grief.

The late Permanent Secretary's death adds to recent challenges faced by the state, which has been implementing various development initiatives under Governor Otti's administration.
