The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has categorically denied reports claiming that the party's Anambra governorship candidate's nomination form was signed by unauthorized officials.
In a statement issued by National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP described the reports as false and potentially designed to mislead the public and create internal party confusion ahead of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State Governorship Election.
According to the statement, the nomination form was properly signed and submitted by Ambassador Iliya Damagum, the Acting National Chairman, and Architect Setonji Koshoedo, the Acting National Secretary.
"The document was submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) under reference number PDP/DOM/GF.2/VOL.1J/25-065, dated Wednesday, May 7, 2025," the statement clarified.
The PDP further explained that the NWC had previously directed the Deputy National Secretary to act as National Secretary in accordance with Section 36(2) of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017). This directive was formally communicated to INEC through a letter referenced PDP/DOM/GF.2/VOL.IF/25-061, dated May 5, 2025.
The party emphasized that INEC has already completed the nomination process based on valid documentation co-signed by the Acting National Chairman and Acting National Secretary, as evidenced by official time and date stamps on the INEC nomination portal.
The PDP urged its members and the general public to disregard the report and fake documents circulating on social media platforms.
"The NWC remains committed to upholding the integrity of PDP's internal processes and reassures members of its unwavering resolve to ensure due process, transparency, and unity within the party," the statement concluded.
