The Nigerian Air Force has dealt a significant blow to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorist group following a precision airstrike that eliminated dozens of fighters and destroyed critical logistics facilities in Borno State.

According to military intelligence sources, the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) executed the successful operation at approximately 1500 hours on Thursday in the Chiraliya area within the notorious Timbuktu Triangle, a known insurgent stronghold.

The operation was conducted based on credible intelligence and real-time surveillance that confirmed the presence of ISWAP elements in the area. Military platforms launched a coordinated air interdiction targeting the terrorist hideout with precision munitions.

"Our platforms launched a deliberate and highly coordinated air interdiction at the Chiraliya terrorists' hideout," a military source confirmed. "We achieved direct hits on multiple targets, including makeshift shelters, logistics stores, and enemy movement corridors."

The subsequent Battle Damage Assessment (BDA) verified the elimination of numerous terrorists and the destruction of vital infrastructure supporting their operations. Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) footage captured secondary explosions during the strike, indicating the presence of arms caches and fuel depots at the location.

Military sources further revealed that follow-up strikes were conducted to target and eliminate terrorists attempting to escape into nearby forested areas after the initial bombardment.

This operation is part of a broader, sustained air campaign designed to degrade ISWAP's operational capabilities and prevent them from regrouping to launch attacks against military installations and civilian populations in the region.

The Nigerian military has intensified its counter-terrorism efforts in recent months, with particular focus on dismantling terrorist strongholds in the Lake Chad region and other parts of northeastern Nigeria.

Security analysts have noted that such precision strikes are crucial in the ongoing fight against terrorism in Nigeria's northeast, as they target command structures and logistics capabilities that are essential for terrorist operations.

The Nigerian Air Force continues to play a pivotal role in the country's counter-insurgency strategy, providing crucial air support to ground troops and conducting independent operations against terrorist targets.
