The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two men accused of sexually assaulting their daughters in separate incidents reported in Surulere and Amukoko areas of the state.

Command spokesperson CSP Benjamin Hundeyin disclosed this information during a press briefing on Monday at the command headquarters in Ikeja.

According to Hundeyin, the first suspect, a 39-year-old man, was taken into custody for allegedly defiling his two daughters, aged 12 and 14, in Surulere. The suspect's wife reported the matter to the police, which led to an immediate investigation and subsequent arrest.

"A case of defilement was reported on April 30 in which the complainant reported on behalf of her two daughters against her husband. She alleged that her husband defiled their two daughters," Hundeyin stated.

He added that a medical report had been obtained from a sexual assault referral centre to support the investigation.

In the second case, a 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly defiling his 16-year-old physically challenged daughter in the Amukoko area of Lagos State.

"On April 29, at 9:30 p.m., detectives of the command received a report from a complainant who reported that her husband had carnal knowledge of his physically challenged daughter on several occasions," Hundeyin revealed.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect was caught in the act of sexually assaulting the minor at approximately 8:30 p.m. on the same day. Following the report, a team of detectives was dispatched to the scene, where the suspect was promptly arrested.

Hundeyin further stated that the survivor was taken to the General Hospital in Ajeromi for medical examination and treatment.

The arrests come amid growing concerns about sexual abuse cases in Lagos State, with authorities intensifying efforts to combat such crimes, particularly those involving minors.
