A distraught father, Mr. Ajayi Fulani, has appealed to government authorities and security agencies to ensure justice following the alleged kidnapping and defilement of his 12-year-old daughter by a traditional ruler in Ondo State.

According to reports, Chief Adeniyi Ifedayo, the Baale of Laagba community in Ondo East Local Council Area, allegedly abducted and sexually assaulted the minor in May 2025.

Father Recounts Daughter's Ordeal

Narrating the incident, Fulani explained that he noticed his daughter's absence from home on Sunday, May 25, 2025, and immediately began searching for her. He revealed that his work as a security guard often kept him away from home, a situation the traditional ruler allegedly exploited.

"The Baale kidnapped my daughter and kept her in his house in the community where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her," the victim's father stated.

When concerns were raised about the girl's disappearance, the monarch reportedly abandoned her at Cathedral junction in Akure, the state capital, where her sister, Yemisi, later found her.

Medical Attention

"She was first taken to the General Hospital in Ondo but was referred to the Mother and Child Hospital at the University of Medical Sciences Teaching Hospital (UNIMEDTH), Ondo, where she was admitted and treated for six days," Fulani added.

The case has raised serious concerns about child safety and abuse of power by traditional authorities in the state. As of the time of this report, authorities have not issued an official statement regarding the allegations or any actions taken against the accused traditional ruler.

This incident comes amid growing concerns about sexual violence against minors in Nigeria, with child rights advocates calling for stricter enforcement of laws protecting children from sexual abuse and exploitation.
