Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has approved the release of ₦3,554,642,584.46 as counterpart funds for the 2024 Universal Basic Education (UBE) Matching Grant, according to a statement released on Tuesday.

The announcement was made by Professor Sulaiman Khalid, Executive Chairman of the Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), who explained that this significant financial commitment will enable the state to access an equivalent amount from the Universal Basic Education Commission.

With the matching grant, the total funds available for educational development projects will reach ₦7,109,285,168.92, representing a major investment in the state's basic education infrastructure.

The funds will finance various intervention projects across primary and junior secondary schools throughout Kebbi State. These include the construction of new classrooms, renovation of dilapidated structures, provision of furniture, and installation of water and sanitation facilities.

Additionally, the statement outlined that the investment will support the construction of perimeter fencing around schools, procurement of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) equipment, agricultural education tools, and sports facilities.

These comprehensive improvements aim to enhance teaching and learning environments across Kebbi State's basic education institutions, addressing critical infrastructure needs while creating more conducive settings for educational activities.

Governor Idris, also known as Kauran Gwandu, has demonstrated his administration's commitment to educational development through this substantial financial allocation, which represents one of the largest investments in the state's basic education sector in recent years.
