The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kebbi State has suspended former House of Representatives member Muhammad Shehu Koko along with nine other party officials from Koko Local Government Area over alleged disloyalty and anti-party activities.
Koko, who previously represented the Koko/Maiyama Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, was suspended alongside several key local party figures including Muhammad Danyado (Vice Chairman), Biyaminu Muhammad (Secretary), and Talatu Zauro (Women Leader). Other suspended officials include the youth leader, financial secretary, and welfare secretary.
According to a letter jointly signed by the APC Local Government Chairman Muhammad Maibarga, LGA Executive Chairman Sirajo Usman Koko, and 14 other local party stakeholders, the suspension followed accusations of harassment against party executives and conduct deemed harmful to the party's interests.
Political observers suggest the suspension may be politically motivated, possibly connected to reports that Koko has expressed interest in contesting for a senatorial seat. This ambition may have unsettled influential figures within the state chapter of the APC.
The development adds to the growing internal tensions within the ruling party as it prepares for future electoral contests. Neither Koko nor the other suspended officials have publicly responded to the allegations at the time of this report.
The suspension comes at a time when the APC in Kebbi State is experiencing significant political realignments, with recent reports of defections and changing political allegiances across the state.
