The Kaduna State Government has officially commenced the 2025 Hajj airlift operations, with the first batch of 311 intending pilgrims departing for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday.

The flag-off ceremony took place at Usman Katsina International Airport, Kaduna, where state officials gathered to bid farewell to the pilgrims embarking on their spiritual journey.

Governor Uba Sani, represented by Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, congratulated the pilgrims and urged them to be good ambassadors of both Kaduna State and Nigeria during their time in the Holy Land.

"This pilgrimage holds profound spiritual significance, and our government remains committed to ensuring a smooth, safe, and dignified experience for all participants," the governor stated through his representative.

According to Malam Salihu Abubakar, Chairman of the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, a total of 4,060 pilgrims from the state will participate in this year's Hajj exercise.

Abubakar highlighted several improvements made to enhance the pilgrimage experience, including the renovation of the transit camp and comprehensive pre-Hajj sensitisation programmes designed to prepare pilgrims for the journey ahead.

The Amirul Hajj and Emir of Kauru, Alhaji Ya'u Usman, offered words of wisdom to the departing pilgrims, advising them to uphold Islamic values and adhere to the guidance provided during their orientation sessions.

"Remember to conduct yourselves with piety, humility, and discipline throughout your stay in the Holy Land," the Emir counseled.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Sheikh Muhammad Bin Othman from the National Hajj Commission, Nazir Abubakar, Chairman of the House Committee on Islamic and Hajj Affairs, and members of the Special Hajj Committee.

This airlift marks the beginning of what state officials hope will be a successful Hajj operation for Kaduna pilgrims in 2025.
