The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced the successful return of the first batch of Nigerian pilgrims who participated in the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.
According to a statement released by Shafii Mohammed, the Principal Information Officer of NAHCON, a total of 1,310 pilgrims have returned to Nigeria through four separate flights from Jeddah.
Return Flight Details
The first returning flight, Maxair flight VM269, departed Jeddah for Bauchi carrying 551 pilgrims and seven officials. This was followed by Flynas flight XY9006, which transported 413 Kebbi pilgrims and six officials back to Kebbi State.
"UMZA flight UY3534 departed Jeddah to Abuja at 13:12hrs with 41 pilgrims and 122 officials, while Air Peace flight APK7901 left Jeddah to Owerri at 23:45hrs with 305 pilgrims and seven officials," the statement further detailed.
NAHCON reported that approximately 63,000 Nigerian pilgrims participated in the just-concluded 2025 Hajj. The Commission has assured that all remaining return flights will be carefully coordinated to ensure the safety and comfort of all pilgrims.
This year's Hajj saw significant participation from Nigeria, with pilgrims from various states completing the religious obligation that represents one of the five pillars of Islam.
The Commission has implemented comprehensive logistics arrangements to facilitate the smooth return of all pilgrims to their respective states in the coming days.
