The Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC) has expressed deep shock and sadness over the passing of Sylvester Ezeokenwa, the Ezeudo of Umuchu and former pioneer Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Onitsha South Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The deceased, who served as APGA chairman in Onitsha South from 2003 to 2015, was a grassroots politician and the father of Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, the current National Chairman of APGA.

In a statement signed by Dr. Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, National Chairman of IPAC, the council lamented that Pa Ezeokenwa's death came at a critical time when his wisdom and counsel would have been valuable in Nigeria's democratic journey.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with Barr. Sly Ezeokenwa, an esteemed political leader, and his siblings during this period of grief. May God Almighty console, comfort, and strengthen them over this irreparable loss," the statement read.

IPAC found solace in the fact that the late Pa Ezeokenwa lived a fulfilled life and left behind a legacy of integrity. The council acknowledged his significant contributions to APGA's growth in Anambra State, where the party has maintained political power since 2006.

The late Sylvester Ezeokenwa was not only a political figure but also a traditional leader, holding the title of Ezeudo of Umuchu. His passing marks the end of an era for one of APGA's founding members in Anambra State.

As of the time of this report, funeral arrangements for the late political stalwart have not been announced by the family.
