Troops of 3 Division, Operation SAFE HAVEN have successfully neutralized two bandits and recovered arms and ammunition during an intelligence-based raid operation conducted in Plateau State on May 12, 2025.
According to a statement released by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, Media Information Officer of Operation SAFE HAVEN, the troops engaged the criminals during the operation and overwhelmed them with superior firepower, resulting in the neutralization of two bandits.
During the operation, the military personnel recovered several items including one AK-47 rifle, one AK-47 magazine, and a fabricated rifle capable of firing 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition. Additional items recovered include seven rounds of 7.62 mm (Special) ammunition, four mobile phones, two motorcycles, and cash amounting to one hundred and fifty-seven thousand nine hundred naira (₦157,900).
The statement further revealed that the recovered arms and ammunition are now in military custody, while the mobile phones are being examined to aid in tracking and arresting other members of the criminal syndicate.
Major Zhakom reassured the public that the military remains committed to maintaining pressure on criminal elements in the region, stating that "the activities of these dangerous criminals will continually be met with stiff resistance from troops who are poised to sustain offensive operations against the miscreants in every means possible."
This operation represents another significant achievement in the ongoing efforts by Nigerian security forces to combat banditry and restore peace in Plateau State, which has faced security challenges in recent years.
