The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has formally petitioned the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney-General of the Federation to investigate and prosecute renowned Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as K1 De Ultimate, following an incident involving a ValueJet aircraft.
According to reports, the veteran musician attempted to obstruct a ValueJet plane from taxiing on Tuesday after he was removed from the flight for allegedly carrying a flask of alcohol onboard.
In an official statement released on Thursday, the NCAA urged both offices to "launch a thorough investigation into the incident" and initiate "appropriate prosecution in accordance with the provisions of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2023 supra and all other applicable laws."
The Director General of Civil Aviation, Capt. Chris Najomo, has also issued an advisory to the Airline Operators of Nigeria, recommending that K1 De Ultimate be placed on a No-Fly List pending the conclusion of all investigations.
Aviation experts have described the musician's behavior as a serious breach of standard operational procedures and a disregard for aviation safety protocols, which could have endangered passengers and crew.
This incident comes shortly after NCAA announced the suspension of ValueJet's crew licenses in a separate incident, highlighting the regulatory body's commitment to maintaining strict safety standards in Nigeria's aviation sector.
The musician, who commands a large following in Nigeria's entertainment industry, has yet to release an official statement regarding the allegations.
