Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, has firmly denied rumors claiming he plans to rejoin the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), describing such reports as false and misleading.

In a statement released on Tuesday through his media office, Obi reaffirmed his commitment to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing the purported statement about his return to the PDP.

The statement, signed by Ibrahim Umar of the Peter Obi Media Reach (POMR) in Abuja, emphasized that Obi has been clear about his position regarding the ongoing coalition efforts in Nigeria's opposition landscape.

"Peter Obi has been unequivocal in his position in the ongoing coalition and didn't need anyone to put words into his mouth," the statement read. "He has remained focused on his mission but would not accept anybody attributing a statement to him just to satisfy their devious agenda."

The former Anambra State governor's media office urged the public to disregard any statements allegedly from him that do not come through his official media channels or handles, cautioning supporters against misinformation.

This clarification comes amid increasing political realignments as Nigeria's opposition parties explore coalition possibilities ahead of future electoral contests. Obi, who garnered significant support during the 2023 presidential election, continues to be a pivotal figure in Nigeria's opposition politics.

Political analysts suggest that Obi's decision to align with the ADC rather than return to the PDP, where he previously served as a governor and vice-presidential candidate, signals his determination to chart a different political path following his departure from the Labour Party.
