President Bola Tinubu is currently participating in the 14th National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), which commenced at approximately 2:10 pm at the State House in Abuja on Wednesday.
The high-profile gathering has drawn numerous party dignitaries, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, alongside Deputy Speaker Benjamin Kalu.
Also present at the meeting are the Chairman of the Progressive Governors' Forum (PGF) and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, as well as the Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. Several other governors, former governors, and legislative leaders are in attendance.
Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the acting National Chairman, Ali Bukar Dalori, have also joined the crucial meeting. Dalori, who serves as the APC National Vice Chairman for the North, has been holding the chairmanship position in an acting capacity following Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje's resignation in June.
BenriNews understands that one of the primary agenda items for today's meeting is to reach a decision regarding the party's National Chairmanship position. Sources close to the party indicate that the North Central zone is being considered to produce Ganduje's successor.
The meeting comes at a critical time for the ruling party as it continues to address internal restructuring and strategic positioning ahead of future electoral challenges.
