The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the 2023 general elections, Omoyele Sowore, has intensified his criticism of the opposition coalition that recently adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

Speaking as a guest on 'The Morning Brief', a programme on Channels Television on Wednesday, Sowore described the coalition as comprising individuals whose track records make it impossible for him to align with them politically.

"For me, the issue of a coalition is personal. To some extent, it's a general issue about governance and politics. But there are just too many people in the coalition you're mentioning that I can't sit across the table from without being tempted to act out of my character," he stated.

The rights activist further alleged that many figures in the coalition have betrayed Nigerians, describing them as people who "have done what is regarded as evil and who lacked conscience, character, and pedigree."

"There's no amount of conditions you can give to them that will wash their ways or change how they behave. These are typically people whose way of life is being evil, doing bad, being corrupt, short-changing the public, and being selfish," Sowore added.

The publisher of Sahara Reporters emphasized that his position was not based on mere opinions but on documented evidence of the conduct and lifestyle of those involved. He argued that while there were individuals in Nigeria's political landscape who genuinely wanted to save the country, others in both the ruling party and the opposition were simply preparing to exploit Nigerians further.

BenriNews reports that the opposition coalition adopted the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as its political party ahead of the 2027 general elections. The coalition includes prominent political figures such as former vice president Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, former Osun State governor Rauf Aregbesola, former Kaduna governor Nasir El-Rufai, and former senate president David Mark, among others.

This is not the first time Sowore has criticized the coalition since it adopted the ADC as its platform, indicating his consistent opposition to the new political movement.
