The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has officially declared that Rabiu Kwankwaso, its presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, will not be allowed to contest against President Bola Tinubu on the party's platform in 2027.

This definitive statement was issued by the party's National Chairman, Dr. Agbo Major, on Saturday in response to claims made by Buba Galadima that Kwankwaso would remain with NNPP and run for presidency in the next general elections.

Dr. Major emphasized that both Kwankwaso and Galadima have been expelled from the party and will not be welcomed back. "We cannot even allow Kwankwaso for whatever reason to return on the NNPP fold because of the problems and internal wranglings he created for us," Major stated.

The NNPP chairman further dismissed Kwankwaso's potential candidacy against the incumbent president, saying, "He does not have the pedigree to match President Tinubu in any contest and so his ambition is dead on arrival."

The controversy began when Galadima denied rumors that Kwankwaso would defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting instead that the former Kano State governor would remain with NNPP for the next presidential election cycle.

This development highlights the ongoing internal conflicts within the NNPP and raises questions about Kwankwaso's political future as the 2027 election season approaches.
