The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended 24-year-old Liman Muhammad Baba for allegedly killing his 80-year-old biological father, Malam Baba Siti, following a heated altercation in Uzum village, Giade Local Government Area.

The tragic incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 10:30 p.m., according to police reports. Spokesman of the Command, SP Mohammed Wakil, confirmed the incident in an interview with BenriNews.

"Detectives from the division promptly visited the scene and found the victim lying in a pool of blood. Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect struck his father on the head with a stick, causing him to collapse and die on the spot," Wakil stated.

Police Response and Investigation

Following a distress call from a resident, the Commissioner of Police, Auwal Sani Omolori, immediately directed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in Giade to launch a discreet investigation into the matter.

The victim was rushed to the General Hospital in Giade, where medical personnel confirmed him dead on arrival. During the altercation, Liman allegedly hit his father with a stick, leading to his immediate collapse and loss of consciousness.

Wakil added that the suspect was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody. A thorough investigation is ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon its conclusion.

This incident adds to growing concerns about domestic violence and intergenerational conflicts in Nigerian households. Mental health experts have previously highlighted the need for better conflict resolution mechanisms within families to prevent such tragic outcomes.
