Bauchi State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged sodomy of a 12-year-old boy, while a third suspect remains at large.

According to Police Public Relations Officer, Ahmed Wakil, the case was reported at 'C' Divisional Police Headquarters on July 16 by Ibrahim Maikudi, who discovered excrement on his son's trousers.

"His wife corroborated this observation, having witnessed this occurrence on multiple occasions," Wakil stated in an official release on Tuesday.

The minor reportedly disclosed that he had been enticed by three suspects identified as Lukman Mohammed (30), Musa Halilu (32), and a third suspect known only as Alkasim, whose full identity remains unknown.

Following the complaint, police detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the victim was taken to a specialist hospital in Bauchi for medical examination and treatment.

Watchman's Testimony Provides Key Evidence

Preliminary investigations revealed that a local watchman had observed suspicious activities involving the suspects and the victim. The watchman told police he had seen one of the suspects, Musa Halilu, chasing the boy on two separate occasions.

"I warned the boy to stay away from the suspects," the watchman reportedly told investigators. "Later, I saw the boy heading toward the suspects' house and stopped him, warning him again."

When questioned by the boy's mother about why he had scolded her son, the watchman explained his concerns. It was then that the boy revealed to his mother that the suspects had lured him into their house where they sexually abused him.

The police spokesperson confirmed that two suspects have been apprehended while efforts are ongoing to locate and arrest the third suspect who remains at large.

This case highlights the continuing concern about child sexual abuse in Nigeria, where authorities have been working to strengthen protections for minors and ensure swift justice for perpetrators of such crimes.
