The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has disclosed that the newly renovated Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja has generated N650 million in revenue within just three weeks of operation.
Wike made this revelation on Thursday during a media chat with selected journalists in Abuja, highlighting the immediate financial impact of the refurbished facility.
The International Conference Centre was commissioned by President Bola Tinubu on June 10, 2025, as part of several projects executed under Wike's administration. During the inauguration ceremony, the facility was renamed in honor of the President as the Bola Tinubu International Conference Centre.
President Tinubu, impressed by the minister's performance, reportedly praised Wike during the commissioning and referred to him as the "Landlord of Abuja."
Renovation Impact on FCT Revenue
The substantial revenue generated in such a short period demonstrates the potential economic benefits of the renovated conference center. The facility, which serves as a premier venue for national and international events in the capital city, appears to be attracting significant business following its upgrade.
This development comes as part of broader efforts by the FCT administration to enhance infrastructure and boost revenue generation in Nigeria's capital territory.
Wike has been in the spotlight recently for various infrastructure projects and policy decisions in the FCT, including his explanation regarding the renaming of the ICC after President Tinubu.
The minister has also made headlines for acknowledging his demanding work style, stating in a separate occasion, "I'm not easy to work with," while defending his administration's achievements in the territory.
Additionally, Wike has highlighted President Tinubu's engagement with satellite towns, claiming he is the first Nigerian president to visit such areas and identify with rural communities in the FCT.
The revenue announcement suggests that the investment in renovating the ICC is already yielding financial returns for the Federal Capital Territory Administration.
