The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has confirmed that all residents affected by road construction projects in Gishiri and other parts of Abuja have been adequately compensated.
Wike made this disclosure on Wednesday during the inauguration of Arterial Road N16 (Shehu Shagari Way) to Arterial Road N20 (Wole Soyinka Way) and other roads in the Katampe district of Abuja.
During the ceremony, the FCT Minister expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support for the development of Nigeria's capital city.
Also speaking at the event, FCT Minister of State, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, thanked FCT residents for their patience throughout the construction process.
"To the people of Gishiri, Maitama, and the entire FCT community, thank you for your resilience and belief in the government's capacity to deliver. You are the heart of this city and this project is a tribute to your enduring hope," she stated.
Infrastructure Development in the FCT
The road project represents a significant infrastructure development for the Federal Capital Territory, connecting major arteries and improving transportation networks in the rapidly growing city.
The compensation of affected residents demonstrates the administration's commitment to responsible urban development that considers the welfare of citizens displaced by necessary infrastructure projects.
This project is part of ongoing efforts to enhance Abuja's road network and ease traffic congestion in Nigeria's capital city, which continues to experience rapid population growth and urban expansion.
