Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has led a high-powered delegation to Madina, Saudi Arabia, to attend the funeral rites of prominent Nigerian elder statesman and business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Alhassan Dantata.

The governor's Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed this development in an official statement released on Monday.

"His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has travelled to Madina to attend the funeral of late Alhaji Aminu Dantata, a respected philanthropist and elder statesman," the statement read.

Notable Figures in Attendance

The delegation includes several prominent figures from northern Nigeria, highlighting the significance of the late business titan. Among those accompanying Governor Yusuf are:

  • The Emir of Kano, Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II

  • Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi

  • Former Jigawa Governor, Barr. Ali Sa'ad Birnin Kudu

  • Other top officials and dignitaries from Kano State

Alhaji Aminu Dantata passed away on Friday night in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. According to reports, he will be laid to rest in Madina beside his late wife, following Islamic traditions.

The late Dantata was a towering figure in Nigerian business and philanthropy circles. Governor Yusuf had earlier described him as "a father figure to many," while other political leaders across Nigeria have expressed their condolences, recognizing his death as a significant national loss.
