The Borno State Police Command has disbursed N13,428,659.95 to families of ten police officers who died while serving the nation. The presentation ceremony took place on Monday at the Command Headquarters in Maiduguri.

Commissioner of Police Naziru Abdulmajid presented the cheques to the beneficiaries on behalf of Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun. The funds were provided under the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Scheme.

Supporting Families of the Fallen

During the solemn ceremony, CP Abdulmajid emphasized that the initiative aims to ease the financial burden on families who have lost their breadwinners. He assured the beneficiaries that the sacrifices made by their loved ones would always be remembered.

"This gesture demonstrates the IGP's unwavering commitment to the welfare of both serving and deceased personnel," said Abdulmajid, according to a statement by the command's spokesperson, ASP Nahum Kenneth Daso.

The Commissioner advised the beneficiaries to utilize the funds wisely, suggesting investments that would secure the future of the dependents left behind by the fallen officers.

Speaking on behalf of all beneficiaries, Mr. Jerry Joel expressed gratitude to the Nigeria Police Force and the IGP for their support during what he described as a difficult period of grief.

The welfare scheme represents part of ongoing efforts by the police leadership to ensure that families of officers who make the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty receive appropriate support.
