The Niger State Police Command, under the leadership of CP Adamu Abdullahi Elleman, has presented cheques totalling N11.4 million to families of 10 deceased police officers who served in the state during 2022 and 2023.

The financial support was disbursed on behalf of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) as part of the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, designed to provide relief to families of officers who died while in service.

Support for Bereaved Families

During the presentation ceremony, CP Elleman extended condolences to the families, emphasizing that the gesture reflects the IGP's concern for their welfare following their tragic losses.

"This token is merely a gesture to help the families ameliorate their suffering, as no amount of money can bring back the souls of their loved ones," the Commissioner stated.

He further assured the bereaved families that the command remains committed to assisting them in any capacity possible, emphasizing the shared bond between the families and the Police Command.

"We pray for the repose of the departed souls. Both the families and the Police Command are in this together, and therefore you should feel free to seek assistance from the Police Command in the state," CP Elleman added.

Ongoing Welfare Initiatives

The presentation highlights the Nigeria Police Force's efforts to support families of officers who make the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation. The Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes represent institutional mechanisms designed to provide financial relief to dependents of deceased officers.

This initiative comes at a time when security agencies continue to face significant challenges across the country, with many officers losing their lives in the line of duty.

The Niger State Police Command has not disclosed specific details about the circumstances surrounding the deaths of these officers, but the gesture underscores the force's recognition of their service and sacrifice.
