The Academic Board of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, has withdrawn 273 students due to poor academic performance, while an additional six students were expelled for examination malpractice.

According to a statement released on Monday by Uredo Omale, Director of Public Relations and Protocol, these decisions were reached during the 120th meeting of the polytechnic's Board, which was chaired by Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman.

Professor Usman commended the Academic Board Result Verification Committee, led by Deputy Rector Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, for their thorough examination of student results. However, he expressed disappointment with the performance of students who failed to meet academic standards despite the institution's efforts to provide a conducive learning environment.

Management's Commitment to Institutional Reforms

The Rector reassured the polytechnic community of the Board and management's continued commitment to implementing reforms that would benefit the institution in the long run.

Students who have been withdrawn or expelled have been instructed to return all polytechnic property in their possession, including their identity cards, to the security unit before leaving the institution.

This development comes as part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian tertiary institutions to maintain academic standards and integrity in the education sector.
