Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has expressed profound grief following the tragic death of Amina Yakubu, a 100-level student of Yobe State University who was crushed to death while traveling in a tricycle.

The governor conveyed his condolences through a statement issued by his Media Aide, Mamman Mohammed, describing the incident as a devastating loss for the university community and the state at large.

"My heartfelt condolences also goes to the Vice Chancellor, staff, students and the entire university community over the loss of this young promising student," Governor Buni stated in the release.

The governor offered spiritual comfort to the bereaved family, saying, "As faithful, we always believe in the power of creation and death as in the hands of our creator, Allah the almighty."

Amina Yakubu, who was studying Education Biology, was involved in the fatal accident that also left four other passengers with varying degrees of injuries. In response to the tragedy, Governor Buni has directed that the injured victims receive free medical treatment at state facilities.

The governor also used the opportunity to urge motorists and other road users to exercise extra caution, especially during the current rainy season when road conditions can be particularly hazardous.

This incident comes amid growing concerns about road safety in the state, particularly involving commercial tricycles, which are a popular means of transportation for students and residents.

The university community has been thrown into mourning following the loss of the young student, with many calling for improved road safety measures around educational institutions in the state.
