Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani on Tuesday led a delegation of senior government officials to Unguwan Dantsoho in Kudan to console the families of 12 individuals who were killed in Mangu, Plateau State, while traveling to attend a relative's wedding.
The delegation included former Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero and other senior state officials who joined Governor Sani in offering condolences and support to the grieving families.
This visit follows the governor's earlier trip to the 44 Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna, where he met with injured survivors of the attack and assured them of his commitment to ensuring justice for the victims.
Governor's Commitment to Justice
During the condolence visit, Governor Sani offered prayers for the deceased and provided financial support to help the families cope with their loss. He disclosed that he had engaged with President Bola Tinubu, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, and Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang regarding the incident.
"I have spoken with the President, the National Security Adviser, and the Governor of Plateau State to ensure that those responsible for this heinous act face the full force of the law," Governor Sani stated.
According to the governor, approximately 22 arrests have already been made in connection with the killings, signaling progress in the investigation.
Development Pledges for Affected Community
In a bid to foster peace and healing within the community, Governor Sani announced plans to construct a road from Unguwan Dantsoho village to Basawa. Additionally, he pledged to establish a hospital in the area to support the community's development and improve access to healthcare services.
These infrastructure projects are part of the governor's broader commitment to addressing the needs of communities affected by violence and promoting long-term development across Kaduna State.
The attack on travelers from Kaduna State has heightened concerns about intercommunal violence in the region, with authorities calling for increased vigilance and cooperation between neighboring states to prevent similar incidents in the future.
