Four women have been killed and three others injured following a violent attack by suspected gunmen in Jean Tangur 2 village, Tangur District of Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State.
The attack occurred on Thursday night, June 19, at approximately 10:40 p.m., when armed assailants stormed the quiet village and opened fire on residents.
Victims Identified
The deceased victims have been identified as Rachael Ayuba, Cecilia John, Naomi Siman, and Esther Ezra. Three other individuals who sustained gunshot wounds are currently receiving medical treatment at the Cottage Hospital in Bokkos.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared details of the incident on social media platform X on Friday, confirming that a joint security response team comprising soldiers, police officers, and local vigilantes was swiftly deployed to the area following the attack.
According to Makama, security forces are now actively working to track down the perpetrators of this deadly assault.

This latest attack adds to the growing security concerns in Plateau State, which has experienced recurring incidents of violence in recent months. The Bokkos area has been particularly vulnerable, with several communities facing similar attacks.
