Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has issued a stern warning that the 2027 presidential election will not be "business as usual" for President Bola Tinubu and his administration.

Speaking to a delegation of Kannywood and key North West opinion leaders on Monday, Atiku emphasized that the proposed opposition coalition being formed to challenge Tinubu in 2027 "is not a joke" and would soon be unveiled to the public.

"This afternoon, I told a delegation of Kannywood and key North West opinion leaders that the opposition coalition being put together is not a joke, and it will soon be unveiled," Atiku stated in a post on his X handle.

Coalition to Recover and Rebuild Nigeria

The former Vice President described the coalition as "a deliberate effort to recover and rebuild Nigeria in line with the yearnings and aspirations of the people."

The delegation was led by Dr. Aslam Aliyu, a prominent Zamfara politician who heads the PAA 2027, NEW MEDIA & DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS FORUM, a coalition of digital media stakeholders including members of Kannywood, Zamfara TOP 10, and other groups.

According to Atiku, some members of the forum who had previously supported President Tinubu's election have now expressed "deep regrets about foisting an incompetent and clueless leadership on Nigeria" and have committed to backing the coalition efforts of opposition leaders.

Addressing Nigeria's Challenges

Atiku acknowledged the "pervasive level of insecurity and other challenges citizens are facing on a daily basis" and assured that the coalition has "the individual and collective capacity to tackle them headlong."

He charged the forum to take its commitment seriously and to educate the public on the need to support the ongoing efforts to recover and rebuild Nigeria "for the good of the majority of its people."

The forum informed Atiku that their commitment is based on a review of the 2023 election results and the voter awareness and information gaps they identified during that electoral cycle.

This development comes as political realignments begin to take shape ahead of the 2027 general elections, with various opposition figures reportedly holding talks to form a united front against the ruling All Progressives Congress.
