The Head of Service of Abia State, Mr. Benson Ojeikere, has emphasized the critical need for discipline among civil servants across all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies in the state.

During a meeting with Permanent Secretaries, Ojeikere called for a comprehensive attitudinal shift among civil servants to align their conduct and performance with Governor Alex Otti's administration vision.

"Civil servants should lead by example," Ojeikere stated, urging them to promote a culture of accountability and efficiency to enhance service delivery in the state.

New Performance Standards

The Head of Service emphasized strict adherence to a 24-hour turnaround time for operational efficiency, designed to enhance responsiveness and productivity across the civil service.

Ojeikere made it clear that career advancement, including promotions, will now be based on exceptional skills and commitment rather than seniority alone. The quality of individual work plans, practical experience, professional development programs, and demonstrated competence will serve as the new yardstick for promotions.

This initiative appears to be part of broader reforms aimed at improving governance and public service delivery in Abia State under the current administration.
